Taiga Rescue Network The Taiga Rescue Network is an group of over 200 organizations and aboriginal groups that help the taiga. Their goals are to introduce sustainable logging, so not too many trees are chopped down, and help endangered animals. Air Nearly 40 percent of all trees on earth are found in the taiga. Since trees produce oxygen and absorb some carbon, the taiga helps the world by producing a lot of oxygen and cleaning the air. Humans and animals could not live on Earth without trees because they make most of the oxygen that humans and wildlife breathe. WWF The World Wildlife Foundation is a global organization that helps endangered species including the panda, the elephant, and the tiger. The siberian tiger that lives in the taiga is on the nearly extinct. The WWF is working on helping this animal.
Bad
Logging Logging happens across much of the taiga and has a bad impacts. It destroys habitat and cover for animals. Oil Oil companies chop down trees for area and mine for oil, and also use these areas for refineries and storage. Hunting Hunters kill many species of animals in the taiga, including the nearly extinct Siberian Tiger, which is hunted for its fur. Deer, Moose, Bears and bears are also hunted.
How to help the Taiga
People can conserve the taiga by petitioning for national parks out of the biome so that no one can cut down the trees or make factories on the land. People could also support or vote for tougher hunting and logging laws. People can also recycle to slow down global warming, and don't pollute the air. Also trying not to use as many wood products would stop the logging industry. This would all help save the taiga. Just in Siberia, nearly 30,000 hectares of taiga forest are disappearing every year. You can help the taiga!!!
